As a postpartum doula, I am a bridge between the needs of new parents and the round-the-clock care of a newborn. I provide flexible in-home support and education to families when they welcome a new baby.

Newborn Care

I demonstrate and teach baby care techniques with an approach based on Magda Gerber’s RIE philosophy and early childhood attachment theory.

This philosophy helps lay the foundation for predictable and developmentally appropriate day and nighttime routines for feeding, bonding, playing, and sleeping. When followed, it ensures a harmonious environment for the entire family.

Postpartum Doula Support

Welcoming a baby is a rite of passage for both mothers and fathers.

In Chinese tradition, the first month is referred to as the Golden Month. Here in the West, we are more familiar with the Ayurvedic tradition of the first forty-two days following childbirth.

It is believed the time after the birth of a new baby is a sacred window for the rejuvenation and replenishment of a mother’s physical and emotional well-being, as well as a time for deep bonding with her newborn.

A postpartum doula nurtures and mothers the new mother while guiding the family through their fourth-trimester journey.

Support may include:

I’ll support you with breastfeeding education, including finding comfortable positions and learning what a good latch looks like and feels like for both you and your baby. I will also guide you through the basics of bottle feeding.

When it comes to calming and caring for your newborn, I’ll teach you swaddling techniques, safe holding positions, and gentle hand-to-hand transitions to minimize fussiness.

We can also work together to establish healthy sleep patterns for your little one. This includes creating a sleep-conducive environment to promote restful nights for both you and your baby.

Developing basic routines for your newborn is crucial during those early days. I can help you establish a rhythm for feeding, sleeping, and diaper changes, bringing some much-needed structure to your new life together.

Recovering from childbirth is a journey. I’ll be there to offer support, whether it’s addressing physical recovery, navigating emotional well-being, or connecting you with additional postpartum resources.

Every birth story is unique, and processing your experience is important. I can provide a safe space for you to share your birth story.

Sometimes, additional support is necessary. I’m happy to provide professional referrals to lactation consultants or other perinatal specialists to ensure you have the comprehensive care you deserve.
