As a postpartum doula, I provide in-home support to families when they welcome their babies’ home.
I teach parents, through observation, how to see the world through the eyes of their baby, imparting newborn care techniques and tools, with a focus on Magda Gerber (RIE), AP, and Steiner (Waldorf), to welcome babies into the world outside the womb in a caring, respectful, and organic way.
Babies thrive on consistency and appreciate a regular and predictable flow to their day. I help families nurture a consistent rhythm for eating, playing, bonding and sleeping, which creates a harmonious environment for the entire family.
Welcoming a baby is a rite of passage for both mothers and fathers.
In Chinese tradition, it’s referred to as the Golden Month. Here in the West, we are more familiar with the Ayurvedic tradition of the first forty days following childbirth.
It’s believed the time after the birth of a new baby is a sacred window for the rejuvenation and replenishment of a mother’s physical and emotional well-being, as well as a time for deep bonding with her newborn.
A postpartum doula nurtures and mothers the new mother while guiding the family through their fourth-trimester journey.
